Pacific Economy Class:

Economy Class is available on all services with a minimum 31”seat pitch. All Economy flights offer personal on demand entertainment.

Air New Zealand has chosen to fit a 3-4-3 configuration to its new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Whilst figures show that seat width is only marginally reduced armrests and aisle are narrower, meaning aisle seat passengers are likely to be bumped regularly and there is a sense of a lack of space.

The Boeing 777-300ER does however offer the SkyCouch. Two passengers can book a 3 seat SkyCouch for an additional fee. This block of three seats features armrests that raise to be flush with the seat back and a raising leg section. This forms a flat surface with the seat enabling two passengers to share a fully flat surface.

Premium Economy Class:

Premium Economy Class is available on Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 747-400 flights. The Boeing 777-200ER and Boeing 747-400 offer a standard forward facing seat in 3-3-3 configuration on the Boeing 777-200ER and in twin seats either side of a galley downstairs on the Boeing 747-400 and in 3-2 configuration on the upper deck. The Boeing 777-300ER offers the revolutionary SpaceSeat.

The SpaceSeat had an unhappy beginning with the prime complaint being that the seats were at such a tight pitch that they offered no space. During August and September 2011 one row of seats was removed from the cabin in order to increase pitch.

Premium Economy passengers are permitted 2 pieces of checked baggage of up to 23kg each.
